Susan's Eviction Story and Response to Mary Jesus

Thank you for the story about evictions. I fought my criminal slumlord Surya Gupta for a decade, always with the City of LA reassuring me the owner would go to prison and it would be on TV and that they would help us.

I had lived in my historical Spanish beautiful building for over 20 years, and thanks to Rocky Delgadillo and the Housing Dept of LA, not to mention a likely corrupt judge etc. I finally lost that final eviction case.

Now I see this building's beautiful French windows ripped out, replaced with tiny windows.  Some windows simply filled with stucco/concrete. It breaks the hearts of all the former tenants who lived there and were the only caretakers of the place, also paying electric/water, as the slumlord owed $40,000.  Not to mention a quarter-million in property taxes on his various slums.

I often wonder if the corrupt city government wonders what ever became of us upon eviction?   I know they don't.  Like Mary Jesus said, it's all about money.

Anyway I hope you know the LA Times did a story about Mary Jesus today...I shall make sure our corrupt city attorney who promises on TV to "put slumlord in jail if they break the law" reads your story.

I hope you might try to get Mary's story on 60 minutes...........it is a story the needs to be told........I am sure there are many other suicides related to eviction that are never told.  There is no pain quite like the torture of living each day, never knowing if you will be served with yet another illegal eviction notice or harrassed and literally terrorized by landlords and even police who yell in your face "You are nothing but a tenant" or the most common: "WHY DON"T YOU JUST MOVE?"
