Berkeley Police Arrest Second Murder Suspect

05/29/05 4:20 PDT  BERKELEY (BCN)

An 18-year-old Berkeley man is in police custody for allegedly committing the city's first homicide of 2005, Berkeley police Lt. Wesley Hester reported today.

Officers arrested Darrell Lamont Morgan at his Berkeley home on Wednesday without incident, according to Hester.

A warrant was issued for Morgan's arrest several days earlier for the murder of 49-year-old Maria King.

King was battered on Feb. 8 in Berkeley and died on Feb. 20 at Highland Hospital, according to police.

Another suspect, Jarell Maurice Johnson, 18, was arrested on Feb. 8 for his alleged involvement in the murder.
